Gabe's Oasis

330 E. Washington St., Iowa City, IA, 52240

History

Gabe's Oasis is the name used for the upstairs music room at the Washington Street bar that is now Gabe's. Little Village writes that by the mid-1980s, when Doug Roberson was booking, the main upstairs room was advertised as Gabe's Oasis and had shifted from blues-rock toward punk and college rock. Enoch Smoky was the first band in that big upstairs room in the Gabe & Walker's years. The name is one of several on the same building, along with the Pub, Fox and Sam's, Gabe & Walker's, the Picador, and Gabe's. (Little Village, July 31, 2019)
