The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, home of the Jane Mallett Theatre, opened on February 2, 1970, after eight years of planning and construction, to a design by Gordon Adamson. The room then called the Town Hall was renamed the Jane Mallett Theatre in November 1984 in memory of the Canadian actress.
