History

The O2 began life as the Millennium Dome, home to the year-long Millennium Experience exhibition in 2000. Its name became The O2 in 2005 under a naming-rights deal, and it reopened on 24 June 2007 with Bon Jovi in the arena. The arena holds 20,000, and it was the first new purpose-built music venue in London since the Royal Albert Hall. Richard Rogers and Populous are credited as architects.
