The WISE Hall was conceived in 1923, when Grandview Methodist Church (now The Cultch) decided the area needed a meeting hall and gymnasium. It opened on January 31, 1926, as Gymbodian Hall, and the W.I.S.E. (Welsh, Irish, Scottish & English) Club bought it in 1963 as its official meeting place. In 2008 the club rebranded as The WISE Club to reflect its broader east-side arts and community focus. The hall holds 225, according to the City's Cultural Spaces dataset.
