VIVO Media Arts Centre traces back to the Satellite Video Exchange Society, incorporated in 1973 to promote non-commercial use of video through a public video library; the space later became known as the Video Inn. It has hosted the Vancouver New Music Festival and the LIVE (performance) Biennale in 2015, along with artists and curators including Paul Wong, Hank Bull, Jayce Salloum and Abbas Akhavan.
