History

Roedde House was built in 1893 for Gustav and Matilda Roedde in the Queen Anne Revival style and is thought to have been designed by Francis Rattenbury. It was designated a heritage building in 1976 at the urging of the Community Arts Council of Vancouver. After years as a rooming house it was restored by the Roedde House Preservation Society, formed in 1984, and Mayor Gordon Campbell opened it as a museum on May 12, 1990.
