Christ Church Cathedral

History

Christ Church held its first service on December 23, 1888, at 720 Granville Street, before it had a building. A building committee formed in February 1889, and by October that year the basement was complete and the opening service was held for 52 parishioners. The Gothic Revival church became the seat of the Dean of New Westminster in 1929, and after public opposition to a redevelopment it was named a Class A heritage building in 1976. A bell tower was inaugurated in November 2016.
