History

The Concert Hall is in the former Masonic Temple at 888 Yonge Street, where construction began in November 1916. The building was added to the City of Toronto Heritage Property Inventory in 1974 and designated under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1997, the year a developer planned to demolish it. From March 2006 it was the broadcast home of MTV Canada, and it began hosting the Polaris Music Prize in 2009. Info-Tech Research Group bought the building in 2013, and Wikidata lists a capacity of 1,200.
