History

Roy Thomson Hall opened in 1982 to a design by Arthur Erickson, with a circular plan and a sloping, curved glass exterior. It took its name on January 14, 1982, in thanks to the family of Roy Thomson, whose donation completed the fundraising for the hall. After years of complaints from musicians about the acoustics, it was renovated over six months in 2002. Wikidata lists a capacity of 2,630.
