The Opera House opened in 1909 as the La Plaza Theatre, an Edwardian vaudeville stage. In the late 1980s it housed the gospel musical Mama, I Want to Sing!, and in 1989 the building was sold, renamed The Opera House and turned into a music venue. Live Nation Canada acquired it in 2023.
