Longboat Hall

History

Longboat Hall is part of the building now known as The Great Hall, whose cornerstone was laid on November 13, 1889. The building opened to the public on October 9, 1890, and its original auditorium, spread over two levels with a cast-iron balcony, held 1,000 people. The main hall staged its first concert, a bill of local performers, the following night.
