History

The Great Hall was built by Gordon & Helliwell for the West End branch of the Toronto YMCA; S. J. Moore laid the cornerstone in November 1889, and construction took less than a year. Over time the building served as headquarters for groups including the Royal Templars of Temperance, the Independent Order of Foresters and the Polish National Union. In 1929, as the Royal Templar Hall, it hosted a mayoral election debate between Sam McBride and Bert Wemp. A restoration by Triangle Development finished in 2016, and the building reopened as an events venue that September with a Main Hall for 460 people.
