History

Jeunesses Musicales Canada is a non-profit founded in 1949 at the initiative of Gilles Lefebvre to bring classical music to a wider audience, especially young people, and to support young artists. It is the Canadian branch of the Jeunesses Musicales movement, which Marcel Cuvelier of the Société philharmonique de Bruxelles started in 1940. Its building was formerly the Laurier, or Seigler, clinic of 1933, designed by Harold Lea Fetherstonhaugh.
