The Rialto was built in 1923 and 1924 to a design by Montréal architect Joseph-Raoul Gariépy, who took the Napoleon III style of the Paris Opera House as his model. Elias Kalogeras, its owner for almost 30 years, sold it in March 2010 to Le Groupe Merveilles Inc. The building is a National Historic Site of Canada and a classified heritage immovable.
