Cannery Ballroom

1 Cannery Row, Nashville, TN, 37203

History

The Cannery Ballroom was the ground-floor music room in the Cannery building at One Cannery Row, just outside downtown Nashville. The 1883 structure began as a Liberty Mills flour mill, later ground coffee, and from 1957 housed Dale Foods; the Dale family opened The Cannery restaurant and entertainment room in 1981, and Eddie Warner bought the property in December 1992. In 2005 the team that ran upstairs Mercy Lounge rebuilt a former soundstage on the ground floor as the Cannery Ballroom, a hall of about 1,000 for touring rock and other shows. After a 2019 sale and a renovation, the complex reopened in January 2024 as Cannery Hall, and that large room is now presented as the Mainstage.
