The Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel on Oldham Street opened in 1776 as The Crown and Sceptre and took its present name in the late 19th century; it was Grade II listed on 19 June 1988. A live music venue since the early 1990s, it fell into disrepair and closed in 2008. Former Coronation Street actor Rupert Hill and his business partner Jonny Booth bought and renovated it in 2009, and an 80-capacity music hall opened at the back in 2010.
