The George Tavern
London · 373 Commercial Rd, London E1 0LA, UK
A corner building marked 'George' appears on a map published in 1819, and the present Commercial Road tavern was probably built between 1799 and 1819. Artist Pauline Forster bought the derelict pub at auction in 2002 and reopened it as a pub and venue for music, performance and art. Since then Nick Cave, Anna Calvi, John Cooper Clarke and The Last Dinner Party have played the Grade II listed room, which holds 150.
