Electric Ballroom Camden
London · 184 Camden High St, London NW1 8QP
The Electric Ballroom goes back to 1938, when Bill Fuller opened the Camden High Street site as The Buffalo Club, and it ran as an Irish ballroom for years. Relaunched as a rock venue with help from Thin Lizzy's former tour manager Frank Murray, it took the Electric Ballroom name and opened on 28 July 1978 with The Greedies, Phil Lynott's project. A 2003 Camden Town tube station plan would have meant a compulsory purchase of the building. Today the ground floor holds 1,500, and a market runs there at weekends.
