100 Club
London · 100 Oxford St, Fitzrovia, London W1D 1LL, UK
The basement at 100 Oxford Street began in 1942 as the Feldman Swing Club, hosting visiting American jazz names such as Benny Goodman and Art Pepper alongside British players including Ronnie Scott and Johnny Dankworth. It took the 100 Club name in 1964. On 20 and 21 September 1976 it staged the Punk Special, the first punk festival, with the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Buzzcocks on the bill. A Save The 100 Club campaign backed by Paul McCartney was followed in February 2011 by a partnership with Converse that kept the 350-capacity room open.
