Palace of Fine Arts Theatre

The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco's Marina District was built to show art at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, and it's the only exposition building still on its original site. It was designed to look like a crumbling ancient Roman ruin, and it was completely rebuilt between 1964 and 1974. Its 162-foot open rotunda by the lagoon is one of the city's best-known landmarks. The curved hall behind it has a theater and 140,000 square feet of event space for performances, galas and trade shows, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
