The Cantab Lounge has been at 738 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square since 1938, and it's a true neighborhood dive with one of Cambridge's most reliable live-music calendars. It runs seven nights a week on two floors. Upstairs, the Lounge has a cozy stage for folk, jazz, cover bands, songwriters and open mics. Downstairs, Cantab Underground is the louder room, with low ceilings, a packed floor and no real barrier between the band and the crowd. It's 21+, and there's no kitchen, but you're welcome to bring your own food.
