The Somerville Theatre in Davis Square opened in 1914 as a vaudeville house and movie theater. More than a century later it's an independent first-run cinema that doubles as a concert hall. Its stage has seen some big nights, including the first of the two Last Dispatch concerts, two Bruce Springsteen shows in 2003 and a U2 performance in 2009. Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, Cursive, Norah Jones, the Jonas Brothers, Joan Baez and the John Butler Trio have played there too. The building is also home to the Crystal Ballroom.
