Jerry Wilson and the Epifani brothers opened Awful Al's, a whiskey and cigar bar, at 321 S. Clinton St. in 1996. Dave Ouderkirk and Carl Johnson closed it in May 2006 and reopened it that November as Al's Wine & Whiskey Lounge.
