Bar X in downtown Salt Lake City opened in 1933, the year Prohibition ended, and spent decades as a blue-collar dive; women were not allowed inside until 1986. Actor Ty Burrell and partners took over the worn-out room in 2011, kept the name, and reopened it as a craft-cocktail bar that still uses some of the early speakeasy decor. The bar, connected to neighboring Beer Bar, emphasizes classic and house cocktails.
