Mac's Bar
Eastside · 2700 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI
The brick building at 2700 E. Michigan Avenue opened in 1936 as The Country Tavern, run by Mike and Jane Fabiano. Clare D. “Mac” McKenzie bought it in the early 1940s and renamed it for himself; he ran it until his death in 1962. The room later became a packed student bar and then a club known for live bands, with names such as Macklemore, Manchester Orchestra, and Mastodon on the stage. Chuck Mannino, owner since 2005, closed for the pandemic, remodeled, and reopened in November 2022 with live music, comedy, and sports.
