The Gas Lamp
Ingersoll · 1501 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA
Frankie Farrell, Ryan Flattery, James Wilson, and Walter Lauridsen opened The Gas Lamp in April 2011 at 1501 Grand Ave., taking over Blues on Grand, a blues room that had operated under various names since the 1970s. Farrell, also an owner of the Liars Club, kept blues on the bill but added folk, rockabilly, country, soul, punk, and alternative in the small room. The club closed on July 9, 2023, after landlord Krause Group moved to renovate the building. In 2024 the owners opened a smaller successor, The Lamp, in the East Village.
