Alice Boron went into business in 1986 with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law at 3556 W. Belmont Ave. in Avondale, in a former butcher shop that had also been taverns called Sullivan’s and Helen’s. After the others left and her husband died, she ran it alone, first as a nearly round-the-clock bar for third-shift factory workers. Karaoke, now several nights a week and running into the early morning, made it a late-night destination. Jeremy Schnitker, Zachary Fox, and Hammock Hospitality bought it in 2022 and kept the karaoke.
