Halloween Nights
Community place. Not a music room, and not on the venue list.
Eastern State Penitentiary · Fairmount · Philadelphia
2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130
The place
Eastern State Penitentiary opened in 1829 on a radial plan by John Haviland, built so each prisoner sat alone and, the reformers hoped, came to penitence. It closed in 1971. By the early 1990s the landmark was close to demolition. Al Capone was held here. The walls are the history. The haunt is what paid to keep them standing.
The event
A modest Halloween fundraiser in 1991 grew into Halloween Nights. The site calls the 2026 run its 35th season and says the money goes back to the nonprofit that preserves the prison. Five haunted houses inside the old cellblocks, plus the historic tour. Tickets are the site’s. Your Town Live does not sell them.
