Kalapana
Honolulu

Bio
Kalapana is a pop and soft-rock band from Honolulu, formed in the mid-1970s by Malani Bilyeu, D.J. Pratt, Mackey Feary, and Kirk Thompson. They are known for "Naturally," "Nightbird," and "The Hurt," and their debut album came out in 1975, followed by Kalapana II. In 1986 Bilyeu, Feary, and Pratt reunited with keyboardist Gaylord Holomalia and bassist Kenji Sano and recorded Hurricane. Feary died in 1999, Bilyeu in 2018, and Pratt in 2021, and Holomalia has kept the band going. For a 50th-anniversary concert at the Waikiki Shell, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser named the lineup as Konrad Kendrick, Alden Levi, Kenji Sano, Gaylord Holomalia, Todd Yukumoto, Ben Taaca, and Sean Thibodeaux.
