Public photo

565 Broadway, Tacoma, WA, 98402

History

The Elks Temple at the head of Pacific Avenue in Tacoma was built in 1916 for $160,000 by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and used by the lodge until 1965, then as a community hall until it went dark in 1986. Mike and Brian McMenamin bought it in 2009 for about $1.2 million and, after more than $34 million in work, opened the hotel, brewery, bars, and music rooms in 2019. The Spanish Ballroom is permitted for about 700 general-admission guests (Tacoma News Tribune, 2024 and April 10, 2026).
