History

Emerald Queen Casino is the Puyallup Tribe’s gaming and concert brand. A shoreside, New Orleans-themed room opened in Tacoma’s tideflats in late December 1996, followed by a 292-foot paddlewheel boat in April 1997 that closed in 2004. The current Tacoma property, 2920 East R Street, is the $400 million casino and hotel that opened in June 2020, with an Emerald Queen Event Center listed at 1,800-plus seats (South Sound Mag, July 21, 2026; emeraldqueen.com).
