History

The First Interstate Center for the Arts, 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard, opened May 1, 1974, as the Washington State Pavilion Opera House for Expo ’74 and was long called the Spokane Opera House. Wikipedia and the venue site say the city transferred it to the Spokane Public Facilities District in 2003; Inland Northwest Bank’s 2006 naming deal made it the INB Performing Arts Center, and it became First Interstate Center for the Arts on September 19, 2018, after First Interstate bought the bank. A $22.3 million renovation that year refreshed the about 2,609-seat house. It hosts Broadway, symphony-scale concerts, and comedy.
