History

The Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway N., opened March 15, 1926, as a movie palace owned by the Minneapolis chain Finkelstein and Rubin, showing The Man on the Box to about 1,100 people, with a Wurlitzer organ (Opus 1255). In 1937 architect Jack Liebenberg remodeled it in Art Deco. A public campaign later raised more than $2 million, and the theater closed from spring 1998 to spring 1999 for a restoration to that 1937 look. Black Jacket Symphony plays there October 22, 2026, and Emo Orchestra with The Spill Canvas is listed for November 29, 2026.
