History
Neumos, at 925 E. Pike Street on Capitol Hill, occupies a former auto-row building that opened in 1992 as Moe’s Mo’Roc’N Café under Jerry Everard. The club was renamed Neumos, short for New Moe’s, in 2003, when Steven Severin, Mike Meckling, and Jason Lajeunesse took the share Marcus Charles had held. Moe’s had already been a tour launchpad, including the June 1996 debut of Neil Young and Pearl Jam’s Mirror Ball and early Seattle shows by bands such as Oasis, Garbage, and Radiohead. The room, about 650 capacity, has a mezzanine and balcony and got new sound and lighting in 2017. Downstairs is the smaller sister club Barboza, and the building also houses the bar The Runaway.
