History

Nectar Lounge opened in 2004 at 412 N. 36th Street in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, after owners Tate Rogers and Jed Smithson spent about a year converting the former Baby Diaper Service headquarters into a music room. The Seattle Times described a raised stage, garage doors, and outdoor seating rather than a dance-bar setup. The club’s own account calls it handmade in 2004, with three bars, a mezzanine over the stage, and a covered patio. It books national and local artists across world music, folk, bluegrass, reggae, funk, jam, hip-hop, Latin, electronic, and related styles.
