Soda Bar

3615 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA · about 200

History

Soda Bar opened in November 2008 at 3615 El Cajon Boulevard in North Park, in a space that had been the bar Chaser’s. Adam Cook and Cuong Nguyen, owners of the Bluefoot, opened it with Nina Babcock as a small room for local and touring bands. The club, about 230 people, became a regular stop for indie acts on the way up, including Foster the People, the War on Drugs, and Phoebe Bridgers. In 2018 it was sold to Big Soda LLC — talent buyer Cory Stier, general manager Angie Ollman, Casbah owner Tim Mays, and musician Andrew Montoya — and it still books indie, punk, and other live shows.
