Brick by Brick

History

Brick by Brick opened in 1995 at 1130 Buenos Avenue, in the same building that had housed the Spirit club since 1976, when it began as Spirit of ’76. Spirit had booked punk, new wave, and early indie bands; Brick by Brick shifted the room toward heavy metal, hardcore, and hard rock while still mixing in other rock bills. Former As I Lay Dying drummer Jordan Mancino and bandmates bought it in 2014, improved the room, and widened the calendar of touring metal and underground shows. In August 2026 the operators announced that the Buenos Avenue chapter was ending after final shows that month.
