History

Marquee Theatre, at 730 N. Mill Avenue in Tempe beside Tempe Town Lake, opened on January 22, 1993, as the Red River Opry, a country room also called the Red River Music Hall. The Opry went bankrupt and closed in 2001. Nobody In Particular Presents bought it, renovated it, and reopened it in March 2003; Tom LaPenna’s Lucky Man Concerts has owned and operated it since March 29, 2004. The all-ages hall uses festival seating for about 1,500 and books a wide range of touring rock, pop, and other acts popular with the nearby Arizona State University crowd.
