The 5 Spot

History

The 5 Spot is an independent live-music bar at 1006 Forrest Avenue in East Nashville’s Five Points neighborhood. WNXP reported in 2023 that the room had been around since 2003 and that Travis Collinsworth, who started as an employee, bought in with fellow staffer Todd Sherwood in 2006. It books local and touring acts across genres and is known for weekly parties including Motown Monday and Sunday Night Soul. Collinsworth, who co-owned the bar for nearly 20 years, died of stomach cancer in April 2025 at 48; Sherwood told WSMV the room was meant as a place for a musician’s first show, homecoming, or last show.
