Rudyard's

2010 Waugh Dr, Houston, TX · about 200

History

Two British expats opened Rudyard's in 1978 on Kipling Street, then moved it in early 1980 to 2010 Waugh Drive in Montrose. Mark and Bernadette Kromholz ran the pub from 1986 to 1993 and brought in live bands. Lelia Rodgers bought the building in 1995, then in 1996 added a kitchen and turned the upstairs apartments into the music room that is still there. The Houston Chronicle, marking 40 years in 2018, called it the living room of Montrose and listed performers including Alejandro Escovedo, the Meat Puppets, the Strokes, and the Decemberists.
