History
Rusty Andrews opened McGonigel's Mucky Duck on June 1, 1990, at 2425 Norfolk Street, after a hard-hat party there on May 25. In a Houston History interview he said the building had been a gambling joint called the Red Man's Lodge, and that Shake Russell, Dana Cooper, and Jack Saunders played opening night. The Upper Kirby pub was built as an intimate listening room for singer-songwriters. It is still at the same Norfolk address, with ticketed shows and Irish bar food.
