History

Sleeping Village is a 21+ bar, beer garden, and concert room at 3734 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. Partners Eric Henry, Rob Brenner, and Billy Helmkamp, who also own The Whistler in Logan Square, opened it on January 31, 2018, in a former cabinet shop that had earlier housed a record-label printer. The Chicago Reader described a roughly 300-capacity music room built with a custom sound system, plus a front bar and a year-round patio. The venue’s own listing calls it one of the city’s concert rooms, with dozens of draft lines and shows by local and touring acts.
