History
The Northside Tavern, at 1058 Howell Mill Road NW in Atlanta, began as a 1940s neighborhood grocery and gas station and later became a blue-collar bar called Northside Package. The tavern’s own history says the Webb family has owned it since 1975, that Butler Webb ran it until his death in 1989, and that his daughter Ellyn Webb then became proprietor. Starting in 1992, guitarist Danny “Mudcat” Dudeck helped her turn the bar into a home for Atlanta blues. Her brother Tommy Webb later kept the room going.
