History

The 443 Social Club & Lounge, 443 Burnet Avenue in Syracuse’s Hawley-Green neighborhood, was formerly billed as The Listening Room at 443. Syracuse.com reported on February 7, 2025, that owner Julie Leone’s club hosts nearly 200 shows a year in a seated listening room of about 75, and that she and James Leone planned to convert the business to a nonprofit while keeping the shows. A June 9, 2020 Syracuse.com story says Leone left a full-time job to open the room as a cabaret-style listening club rather than a bar with a band in the corner.
