History

The Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St. in Goshen, opened in 1905 as the Jefferson Theater, burned in 1906, and was rebuilt by Chicago architects Patton & Miller for a 1907 reopening. It was remodeled as a cinema and renamed the Goshen Theater in 1948, closed to the public in 1986, and was used by churches until Goshen Theater Inc. bought it in 2014. A renovation of about $5.2 million, reported finished around the start of 2021, left an intimate historic auditorium (the theater describes about 590 seats) plus a ballroom.
