Grand Ole Opry House

2804 Opryland Dr., Nashville, TN, 37214

History

The Grand Ole Opry House is the current home of the Grand Ole Opry, which opened there on March 16, 1974, after the show left the downtown Ryman Auditorium for the Opryland complex. Opening night included President Richard Nixon at the piano, and a six-foot circle of oak from the Ryman stage was inlaid at center stage. The house holds about 4,000 and carries the Opry on its regular broadcast nights along with other concerts. Flooding from the Cumberland River closed it in May 2010, and the show returned on September 28, 2010.
