Green Door Bar & Grill

History

The Green Door Bar & Grill is at 2005 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing. The venue’s own history, as reported by City Pulse, says it began as the Green Door Lounge in the mid-1960s and grew from weekend music into a nightly blues and dance room. Jen Costigan started there in 1991 selling shots and later booked the music and co-owned it. It closed about 18 months around the pandemic and reopened September 24, 2021. In June 2025 Costigan listed it for sale at $200,000 while keeping the doors open; by early 2026 a new stage and a broader local-band calendar were in place.
