History

The Acadiana Center for the Arts, often called AcA, says it was founded in 1975 as the Acadiana Arts Council and is a nonprofit at 101 W. Vermilion Street in downtown Lafayette. The Current reported that by 2004 the council had a new building and, shortly after, the Acadiana Center for the Arts name. AcA's own history says it presents exhibitions, performances, and education across an eight-parish region and marked its 50th anniversary in 2025.
