Freedom Hall Civic Center

History

Freedom Hall Civic Center, 1320 Pactolas Road in Johnson City, is a city-owned arena that opened July 5, 1974 with Bob Hope. Wikipedia lists a construction cost of $5 million, an event capacity of about 8,500 and a basketball capacity of 6,149. It has been home to Science Hill High School since 1974 and to East Tennessee State University basketball since 2014. Concerts there have included Elvis Presley, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and AC/DC.
