History

Lambeau Field, 1265 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, is the outdoor home of the NFL's Green Bay Packers. It opened September 29, 1957, as New City Stadium (replacing the original City Stadium) and was renamed in August 1965 for Packers founder, player, and coach Earl "Curly" Lambeau, who had died that June. Designed by Richard E. Gustafson of Somerville, Inc., it began with about 32,500 seats and now seats 81,441, making it one of the NFL's largest and the oldest stadium in continuous use by its original team. When the Packers are not playing it also hosts concerts, including Paul McCartney in 2019. (Wikipedia, List of Green Bay Packers stadiums; Britannica, Lambeau Field)
